Wes Craven: End of an era.

Horror royalty Wes Craven sadly lost his battle with brain cancer yesterday. He was 76. Over the years Craven has shaped and reinvented the horror film genre time and time again. Some of his greats being Nightmare on Elm Street and of course the Scream franchise.

His works have been widely admired – so much so that a vast amount of copycat films have been seen trying to capture a Craven quality. Not only did he bring horror to life, but allowed the “movie monsters” to once again step foot outside the confines of the silver screen.

I was so impacted by his work that I dedicated a section of my dissertation to the horror mastermind who has allowed fear to be reshaped and remastered.

Here is a look at some of his best works.

RIP Wes Craven. The genre won’t be the same without you.
