Jurassic World Review

JW 1

The original Jurassic Park trilogy shaped the 90s.

Steven Spielberg brought wonder to the screen with the first two instalments of the franchise.

Now years later Colin Trevorrow has taken the reins with Jurassic World.

The story takes place twenty-two years after the first Jurassic Park. Isla Nublar is now open and fully functional as John Hammond envisioned.

However after 10 years visitors aren’t as impressed by the run of the mill dinosaurs, so with corporate approval the scientists in the lab work on creating a new type of dinosaur – which immediately backfires…welcome to Jurassic World.

Okay so lets get down to the nitty gritty.

JW 2

Chris Pratt stars as Owen Grady an ex member of the U.S Navy who is now employed at the park monitoring the velociraptor pack. Personally since Pratt starred in Guardians of the Galaxy I have become a huge fan – I love his own personal brand of action and comedy. However I was disappointed he wasn’t in more of the film.

As all the Jurassic Films centre themselves round a dysfunctional family – this time round we have two brothers bickering and in denial about their parents upcoming divorce, and an aunt who cares more about her career then settling down.

I’m all for family entertainment however certain aspects such as the older brothers overly horny attitude towards girls was rather overplayed and far fetched – thoughts??

The whole film had a darker feel than the original trilogy, however I think in terms of reinvention Trevorrow did a great job.

The true stars of the show would have to be the velociraptor pack – if you’ve seen the film you’ll know what I mean.

I don’t want to give away too many spoilers, but the fact the lead female character spent the majority of the film running in heels – BRAVO!

I’d score the film 7/10
