Spy Review

Melissa McCarthy at her best.

Contains Spoilers!

So yesterday I went to a pre-screening of Melissa McCarthy’s latest action flick Spy – Melissa McCarthy and action?! Yes I was skeptical to.

However in Paul Feig’s biggest hit since Bridesmaids he brings McCarthy and gang back for more laughs and hideaway moments.

In the film Melissa plays Susan Cooper, who from behind her desk guides Jude Law’s character Bradley Fine on various Bond-style missions. This CIA operative hopelessly longs for the day when Agent Fine and her will walk hand in hand into the sun set.

Sadly her dreams are set crashing down when Fine is assassinated by Rayna Boyanov (Rose Byrne), a glamorous, yet cold blooded killer. In hopes of avenging her love she sets out for revenge, leaving her desk, and heading out into the field with help from her best friend Nancy played by Miranda Hart – Yes Miranda (Such Fun!)

Spy film poster

Comedy soon follows with hilarious disguises – “I look like someone’s homophobic aunt.”

Spy is great, smart, and funny – poking holes in societies views surrounding older women.

As an added bonus the film has British hottie Jason Statham playing a rather different type of action hero.

Overall I really enjoyed the film.
